Antoine Dessart is a PhD candidate at the Centre Spatial de Liège (CSL, Liège, Belgium) and has been working at the Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BIRA-IASB) since November 2025. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s degree in Space Sciences from the University of Liège in July 2025. His thesis, entitled “Design and implementation of a calibration facility dedicated to space IR sensors and imagers”, aims to develop and upgrade the current large thermal-vacuum (TVAC) facility at B.RCLab in order to extend its radiometric characterisation capabilities towards the thermal infrared, from 3 to 14 µm. Since joining BIRA-IASB, he has been specialising in thermal-vacuum environments and radiometry under the supervision of Dr David Bolsée. His expertise in optical components and optical systems is further developed through the co-supervision of Prof. Serge Habraken at CSL. Although still at an early stage of his scientific career, Antoine has already contributed to several space-related projects at B.RCLab, including ESA’s MiCoSMic and COMPLEMENT projects, as well as JAXA’s SoSpIM experiment.
